The Youth Pledge was the result of the Second Youth Congress held in Batavia (Jakarta) for two days on October 27 and 28, 1928. The meeting chaired by Soegondo Djojopoespito produced 3 pledges. The text of the Youth Pledge is as follows:

First

"We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, claim to swear one blood, the motherland of Indonesia"

Second

"We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, claim one nation, the Indonesian people"

Third

"We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, uphold the language of unity, the Indonesian language".
